ARC Discovery 2026 Round Achievement
Dr Jamie Ferrill, Senior Lecturer of Financial Crime Studies (AGSPS), is excited to share that her research team has been successful in the ARC Discovery 2026 round! The project, “Financial Sanctions: Identifying Sanctioned Persons and Their Assets”, is led by ANU and includes a collaborative team from seven institutions: ANU, CSU, USyd, La Trobe, Macquarie, Queen’s, and RUSI.

Among the team members is Dr Jamie Ferrill, contributing alongside Dr Anton Moiseienko, Professor Louis de Koker, Professor Saskia Hufnagel, Dr Doron Goldbarsht, Professor Christian Leuprecht, and Mr Tom Keatinge. The project was awarded $529,137 of the requested $554,137, with a portion of the funding coming to CSU. This marks a significant milestone. The project will examine the challenges of implementing Australia’s financial sanctions, focusing on identifying sanctioned individuals and their assets across five key economic sectors.
It will deliver innovative, evidence-based approaches to sanctions implementation, strengthening Australia’s capacity to use these tools effectively in coordination with international partners.
Linkage Grant Success: Regional Migration and Settlement
Professor Branka Krivokapic-Skoko, Professor in Management in the School of Business, is pleased to announce her team’s success in securing an ARC Linkage grant, led by Adelaide University, for the project Whole-of-Community approaches to regional migration, settlement & retention.
This achievement follows a year of revision and hard work, including a summer of dedication. The project spans four states, four universities, and involves 19 industry and community partners. Professor Krivokapic-Skoko is part of a dynamic research team that includes Associate Professor David Radford, Associate Professor Anthony Moran, Dr John Reid, Dr Ghim Tan, Dr Martina Boese, Dr Daile Rung, Associate Professor Andrew Taylor, and Dr Devaki Monani. The project will investigate diverse migrant settlement and retention in regional communities using a novel interdisciplinary framework that prioritises regional voices.

The project has secured a total funding of AU$3 million, reflecting strong national support. This includes AU$485,955 from the ARC, with additional contributions from five Australian universities providing over AU$280,000 in cash and more than AU$1.6 million in in-kind support through CI salaries and infrastructure. Partner organisations are also making significant contributions, with over AU$35,000 in cash and nearly AU$450,000 in in-kind support. The outcomes will generate rich insights to inform policy across all levels of government, supporting improved regional settlement outcomes for communities and migrants alike.
