Sub Dean L&T September Update

Wow, I am not sure about you, but things don’t seem to be slowing down! So on that note a massive thank you is required for the continuous effort everyone is putting in. The Faculty Leadership Team are very grateful for your ongoing contributions, as we appreciate each of you are seeking to make a positive difference for our students, colleagues, and communities – during a difficult period for many. But in these crazy times, we hope you are taking some time out for your own self-care (click here for some good resources)... and there’s no better time to do this than now with the upcoming long weekend…

However, for now, the show must go on. Hence, in this newsletter, are posts about:

  • International students graduation plus the BIG Day In at Port Macquaire
  • Using Pronouns in Zoom
  • Updates from the WPL team – with some great student testimonials (go team)
  • How to enhance academic integrity using interactive oral assessments
  • Key dates for the upcoming Tri-Faculty HDR Conference
  • Links to the Regional University Network (RUN) conference recordings
  • Research Outputs
  • Resources for achieving your SoTL objective for your upcoming EDRS
  • How to save previous CSU replay videos
  • Guidance from the library regarding a Leganto reading list

Other updates include:

  • The RED Excellence Awards and Charles Sturt First Nations Success Awards are now open – please consider nominating a peer (closing dates Friday 8 October 2021 for RED and 30 September for First Nation)
  • As we look to end 60 session and move towards commencing 90 session don’t forget to refer to the subject delivery guide for help – it truly has some great tips and resources
  • If you want a flash looking i2 announcement – don’t forget Lachlan Kalache, DLT Technology Lead, has created a simple process that allows you to import a single package file into your subject sites. It’s so simple to do and your announcements do look very professional! He’s created a short video clip on how this is done – the link is here, you can access the accompanying Announcement Template Master file here (it’s fully worth investing your time to do this)
  • A personal favourite PD session in the last couple of months has been how to create video resources. Don’t also forget other PD recordings can be found on this dedicated YouTube channel
  • The project to select a more comprehensive online exams platform is still at the vendor demonstration stage with 2 preferred tenders being put through their paces. The aim is to have the new platform in place by the beginning of 2022
  • Don’t forget to also save the dates (17-19 November) for the CSEdX conference – the program is coming together nicely – registrations close 15 October
  • Annual closedown dates have been updated
  • To stay across updates in academic policy head to these DLT pages
  • Please send through me any updates or any news you wish to share (don’t be shy), we honestly want to hear from you!!! For example Dianne McGrath kindly shared this L&T tip – 6 helpful tips for those battling hybrid delivery models (thanks Dianne)

Stay safe, but have fun doing so 🙂

Cheers,

Stacey
