School Entrepreneur Program comes to Port
BJBS recently hosted the School Entrepreneur Program, a five-day program designed by Illuminate Education (called the illuminate:nextgen challenge). The Program was held on the Port Macquarie campus from 2nd to 6th September 2019. Sixty-five students from five different secondary schools in the Port Macquarie area attended the Program. This was the first time the Program had been delivered in the region and a first for Charles Sturt University.
The aim of the School Entrepreneur Program was to provide high school students with an opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Teams of students worked on a core challenge of developing new ideas and businesses that would encourage younger people to stay in the region.
The School Entrepreneur Program was very well received by all stakeholders including participating schools, the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and local businesses. The Program also received positive media coverage in the Port News. Congratulations to the winners and all participants.
Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) re-accreditation
We have been successful in securing re-accreditation by the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) for another three years (2020 – 2022) for the following courses: Bachelor of Business (Human Resources Management) and the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)/Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management). I would like to thank everyone from across the Faculty that contributed to the successful re-accreditation – a lot of great work was done.
AHRI is the national industry association representing human resource and people management professionals with about 20,000 members from Australia and across the globe. At the same time, AHRI is also the professional body for HR in Australia. It sets the industry standard, which is globally benchmarked and mapped to Singapore (IHRP) HR certification and the UK (CIPD) chartered HR standard. Additionally, AHRI sets standards through industry accreditation of HR qualifications at Australian universities.
