2018 FOBJBS HDR Conference
The 2018 FOBJBS HDR Conference was held in Wagga Wagga on the 16th & 17th October. It was well-attended by both staff and candidates, and we were fortunate to have some excellent keynote speakers. Professor Kevin Lowe from the University of Sydney spokeabout branding yourself as a researcher; Associate Professor Salil Kanhere from UNSW spoke about the applications, opportunities and challenges of blockchains; and Dr Greg Low from Microsoft spoke about the types of technologies that fascinate a technologist.

We also had some very impressive presentations from our current HDR candidates. Prizes for the best candidate presentations at the conference went to Jen Schwarz,

‘Constructing an identity in relation to autism‘, and Michael Furner, ‘Content-based analytics for use in radio program management‘. The breadth of research being undertaken across our faculty is quite incredible, and this event is a great opportunity for cross-pollination.
We trust that everyone who attended benefited from the conference, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the 2019 event. It’s a fantastic chance to network with
